Members of a homeowners’ association in Germany have the right to elect an administrative board to supervise and support the appointed manager. The board members are elected from among the owners and consists of one chairman and two more members.
Beeing a board member
Elected members have an opportunity to get involved in the day-to-day running of your property and make sure the property manager acts fully in the owners’ best interests. On the other hand, being a board member can mean a lot of extra work. Especially if other members of the owners’ association come to you with their troubles, questions and plans for the property. In this case, you may need to answer questions and explain decisions concerning maintenance, insurance, financial and legal issues.
